Acupressure for Labour
A workshop for midwives, doulas and childbirth educators on the traditional Chinese
medicine techniques of Moxibustion and Acupressure to facilitate natural birth and
postpartum recovery
Research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) demonstrates
that the traditional Chinese medicine technique of using moxibustion to turn breech
babies is safe with a success rate that is greater than using external cephalic
version (ECV). Research in nursing journals demonstrates that acupressure is a safe
and effective method of providing pain relief in labour.
This is a practice hands on workshop designed to empower practitioners with the
confidence to both use these techniques with confidence in their practice and be
able to teach support people the practical use of acupressure and Moxibustion.
On completion of this course a free power point presentation is available. This
can be used by acupuncturists to run their own workshops for midwives and
doulas on the use of acupressure and moxibustion.
