Acupuncture in Pregnancy & Childbirth

This is an updated course from Debra Betts replacing her older course on Pro D Seminars called the Complete Pregnancy course by Debra Betts.  It has all of the information from her previous course plus loads of updated and new information.

A Timeline for planning acupuncture treatments in pregnancy. This online course will present a comprehensive and detailed approach to the treatment of women during pregnancy using a week by week guide to treating the pregnant body. This offers information to assist acupuncturists to move away from point prescriptions to individualized treatment: encouraging optimal health during pregnancy and preparation for an efficient labour and postpartum recovery, including:

  • Historical TCM concepts – what remains relevant to today’s practice?
  • Western medical research- understanding the latest research about implantation, pregnancy and labor in order to adapt the most relevant TCM treatment for the different stages of pregnancy.
  • Western medical information about the hormonal and immune changes required for a healthy pregnancy and an efficient labour – their relevance to acupuncture practice.
  • Post-partum recovery – exploring acupuncture's potential from a physiological perspective.
The A - to - Z of Pregnancy Care for Specific Conditions: This presents treatment options for women presenting with specific conditions during pregnancy, labour & post-partum. Specific conditions with a focus on those most relevant to clinical practice; nausea during pregnancy, miscarriage, anemia, pregnancy induced hypertension, breech and posterior positions, heartburn, vulval varicosities, musculoskeletal conditions, induction, labour and breast feeding are covered with relevant Western and Chinese medicine information, the latest evidence based research for these conditions, case histories, with treatment options for difficult cases. Updated treatments options from those previously presented in Debra’s book “The Essential Guide to Acupuncture in Pregnancy & Childbirth” are also included.
